MONDAY

APRIL 7, 14, 21, 28, 2014 Quilting (QR) – Monday @ 9:00am

The Twin Falls Senior Center has a group of ladies (The Crazy Quilters) who work on putting the finishing touches on quilts as a group while socializing at the same time. Anyone who would like to share their quilting skills and work with others should come join the group. The ladies quilt every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. The group usually finishes quilting at Noon.

APRIL 7, 14, 21, 28, 2014 Fit & Fall Proof Exercise Class – Monday @10:30 a.m.


Fit and fall Proof is a free exercise program for older adults who want to improve their strength, balance, flexibility and mobility while decreasing their risk for falling. Classes are a great way to meet new people and have fun while being active. The Twin Falls Public Library bookmobile will be at the Center from 11:15 am to Noon every Monday except for Holidays. Come look at the book selections.

APRIL 21, 2014 Univ. of Idaho Extension Presentation- Healthy Habits /Sodium in your Diet 11:30 am.

Rhea Lanting with University of Idaho Extension Service will be presenting information to inform seniors about healthy eating habits and providing information on how to control sodium levels in their diet.

APR 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2014 Tai Chi Exercise Class Every Tuesday @ 9:00 am.

Tai Chi is a Chinese system of slow meditative physical exercise designed for relaxation and balance and health. The class instructor is Laura Fryar. There is no cost for the class. If you have any questions please call Jeanette Roe at the Twin Falls Senior Center at 734-5084.

APR 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2014 – Finding a Way – Grief Support Group Every Tuesday 10:00-11:30 am.


The issues of grief and loss are part of every individual’s journey through life. Though it is an inevitable part of life, it is not something that you have to go through alone- there is life beyond grief. The Finding a Way grief support group will help you find your way from grief back to living again. Please join us every Tuesday at the Twin Falls Senior Citizen Center 530 Shoshone St, Twin Falls, Idaho from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Qualified professionals from Idaho Home Health and Hospice will be providing their insight weekly.

APRIL 1, 15, 29, 2014 Blood Pressure Checks Every other Tuesday@ 11:30 pm.

Come to the Center early for our lunch and have your blood pressure checked. Donations are accepted for the service.

APRIL 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2014 – Bible Study Every Tuesday @12:30 pm.

Hand & Foot Canasta is played weekly at the Twin Falls Senior Center. Canasta is a card game for two to six players, relating to rummy and requiring six decks of cards. The Center is looking for individuals who like to play cards and wants to learn or already know how to play. Please join us for a fun afternoon of card playing.

APRIL 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2014 - Cribbage Every Tuesday @ 1:00 pm.

Cribbage is played weekly at the Twin Falls Senior Center on Tuesday’s afternoons. The Center is looking for individuals who like to play cribbage. Instruction is available for beginners or those who can remember who to apply all the rules. Please join us for cribbage.

AARP is offering free tax help to low-to-moderate income tax-payers, especially those 60 and older. Feel free to contact the Senior Center at 734-5084 to make an AARP tax appointment. Appointment times are available on Tuesday or Thursday from 9am to 3:00pm. Please bring with you: Copy of last year’s income tax return(s), all tax documents you have received, social security cards or other official documentation for yourself and all dependents, and picture IDs are required.

Oil Painting Classes by Don Oman. Classes are for beginners or experienced painters. You will be laying paint the very first class. Paint your own subjects or use Dons practice pictures at first. The Cost is $25.00 per person with sessions being 2 ½ hours long.

APRIL 8, 15, 22, 29, 2014 Line Dance Classes Every Tuesday beginning April 8th @ 1:00-3:30pm

Come enjoy the basics of Line Dancing with Instructor Lynn Gabsby. She will make it very enjoyable and fun while learning the basic steps. At 2:30 pm. they will pick up the pace and steps for those members who want have fun learning new songs. If you have any questions, please call the Center.

APRIL 8, 2014 - Idaho Home Health & Hospice – Advance Directives @ 11:30 a.m.

Specifically, in the month of April, The South Central Quality of Life Coalition and social workers from numerous hospice agencies are welcoming the public at area Senior Centers in the Magic Valley with free information about advance care planning and advance directive forms. Idaho Home Health & Hospice will be available at the Twin Falls Senior Center on April 8, 2014 to assist individuals with their advance directive decisions. APRIL 29, 2014 -Visually Impaired Support Meeting Last Tuesday of the Month @ 12:45-2:00 pm.

If you or your spouse has a diagnosed vision problems, such as Glaucoma, Macular degeneration, or diabetes caused vision problems this meeting group is for you. The support group meets each month following the lunch at the Twin Falls Senior Center. The support group also guest experts and interesting speakers to help with education, peer counseling, independent living, as well as group discussions. For More information call the Idaho Commission for the Blind at 734-2140 or Verna Motes at 732-0627. Come early and have LASAGNA lunch before the meeting.

Every Wednesday morning the kitchen prepares fresh baked cinnamon rolls. Cinnamon Rolls are $2.00 each. You may eat in the dining room or take them to go. Coffee is also available for a donation of $.50 cents. If you would like to pre order cinnamon rolls, please call Jeanette at 734-5084 on Monday to make arrangements.

Presentation will be talking with seniors to inform them about SPRING EXERCISES AND NUTRITION. Presentation is presented by Debbie Williams of Chaparelle House of Twin Falls.

Michael Johnson will play is guitar and sing folk and country songs. He provides easy listening music prior to the Twin Falls Senior Center’s lunch. Come join us for lunch including soup, salad, and dessert and this extra special entertainment.

APRIL 16, 2014 Magic Valley Gem Fiddlers Lunch Time Entertainment 3rd Wednesday @ 11:30 am.


The Magic Valley Gem Fiddlers will play numerous selections of music prior to the Twin Falls Senior Center’s lunch. Come join us for lunch including soup, salad, and dessert and enjoy this local entertainment.


APRIL 16, 2014 Twin Falls Senior Center – Board Meeting 3RD Wednesday @ 5:30 pm.

Monthly meeting of the Twin Falls Senior Center Board of Directors will be held at 5:30PM in the Center’s conference room. Topics covered will include old and new business along with monthly staff reports. Staff reports will include a kitchen report, home meal delivery report, and financial report. Public will welcome to attend.

APRIL 23, 2014 Tom & Beryl Lunch Time Entertainment Fourth Wed. of the Month @11:30 am.

Tom & Beryl will entertain you with their Old time County songs. They are the main feature for the Center’s monthly BIRTHDAY lunch. All birthdays for the month will be celebrated. Please come enjoy special entertainment and lunch including Birthday Cake.

The Twin Falls Senior Center is having COMMUNITY dance for SINGLES AND COUPLES of any age who enjoy listening and dancing to your favorite oldie tunes from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s including Country and Rock & Roll every Friday night. The House Band for the Center is the SHADOWS BAND. Don’t miss out on all the great fun. Extra-large dance floor and a smoke free environment. Snacks, Soda & Water along with Beer & Wine are available. The Cost is $5.00 per person. Help support the Center’s effort to have more events.

Addus Health Care will be presenting nutritional information regarding eating hydrating fruits & vegetables. APRIL 12, 2014 Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast - Saturday 8:00-10:00 am.

Help you Celebrate National Volunteer Week April 6 – 13, 2014 by recognizing our Twin Falls Senior Center Volunteers. Enjoy a wonderful ALL YOU CAN EAT breakfast for $6.00 per person while helping us recognize our volunteers who dedicated their service to the Senior Center. The Center relies upon volunteers to assist with meals at the Center and also deliver the home bound meals. Several local Twin Falls officials will be on hand to share in this appreciation program. Menu includes an old fashion farmer’s breakfast with sausage, ham, and bacon along with Eggs, Roasted Red Potatoes, Biscuits & Gravy, Pastry Tray, Fresh Fruit, Coffee, Milk, and Juice. Please join us for the best breakfast in Town and show your support for the Center’s volunteers.

APRIL 18- MAY 3, 2014 – Art & Soul of the Magic Valley – Daily between April 18th – May 3, 2014


Art & Soul of the Magic Valley, Idaho’s premier community art event, will open on April 18 and run through May 3, 2014.  The show invites everyone to visit the 85 Venues and to enjoy the work of the 147 wonderful Artists that are sharing their talent with our community.  Art & Soul is presented by the Magic Valley Arts Council which serves communities throughout the valley. The Twin Falls Senior Center is one of the venues for 2014. The Center is hosting two artists for this special event. Please come by the Center to also see other paintings done by Senior members of the Center. The Center will be open extended hours for the viewing public to look at the works of art.


APRIL 23, 2014 Filer High School FFA Banquet 7:00 – 10:00 pm.

The Twin Falls Senior Center will be hosting the Filer High School Annual FFA Banquet. Any questions regarding the Banquet and tickets should be addressed to Mr. Wolfe at Filer High School @ 326-5944 Ext 4302.

APRIL 24-27, 2014 – Magic Valley Spring Sectional Bridge Tournament


The Twin Falls Senior Center is hosting the Magic Valley Spring Sectional Bridge Tournament. Tournament play will begin on Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m. Two sessions will take place on Friday, April 25, at 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm. Two sections will take place on Saturday, April 26, at 11:00 am. and 5:00 pm. Final day of Bridge play with be on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 10 am. APRIL 30, 2014 – Beta Sigma Phi Founder’s Day Dinner - Private Event - @ 6:00 pm.
