My name is Barbara Mercer and I moved to the Twin Falls area from Valrico, Florida with my husband Glenn in March 2019 after retiring as a public school principal; in order to be closer to my identical twin sister who lives in Hailey, ID. I am enjoying the beautiful weather and mountains in Idaho and finding much to do here in my retirement.
My goals and objectives for the TFSC include continuing the work that has begun with creating a safe and caring environment in which seniors can come for a nourishing hot meal and welcoming fellowship. I want to be able to offer them a variety of educational and fun activities where all are welcome; regardless of ability, income, age or social status. I also want to be able to expand the Meals on Wheels program to reach as many needy seniors as possible, while increasing the number of volunteers to meet this need by reaching out to colleges and other agencies where youth need to get service hours.
As a former principal, I have had experience working with PTA's and other school organizations in raising funds for large organizations. I can use this experience to help organize fundraisers for the TFSC.
I want to serve on the TFSC Board of Directors because I love the community that I live in and I believe that I can use the skills and talents that I had as a principal to benefit the community and the TFSC Board of Directors. I have the time and the talent to contribute and wish to volunteer at that time and talent.
As a retired principal, I can bring many skills to the Board. l am highly organized, know how to manage large groups of people, can lead large and small groups of people, can organize and lead fundraisers, can manage budgets, can analyze data, etc.
